Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for the Technology Center Director for the Crop Protection (CP) business unit.  The role is located in our Indianapolis, Indiana headquarters and reports to the Vice President, Crop Protection Operations.

This role is accountable for the overall integrated strategic planning for the Technology Center; to operationalize and maintain technology developed in R&D at Corteva’s internal assets and at our external manufacturing partners; to ensure implementation and process standardization of “most effective technology”; to lead improvement solutions (both capital and non-capital) in internal and external plants; to ensure process performance meets the design; to provide technology expertise support for all aspects of operations; and to ensure global manufacturing work processes and standards are met.  This role will also be accountable for the teams that provide engineering disciplines, process automation, manufacturing asset technology, capital planning, capital execution, Operations Sustainability and Corteva’s Climate Strategy. 

Responsibilities:
What will the Technology Center Director do?
 The Technology Center Director will provide overall leadership, direction and stewardship to an organization of ~250 highly skilled and talented professionals to:

  • Support and advance improvement globally and regionally
  • Effectively operationalize and communicate Corporate, Business Unit and Technology Center priorities to the Technology Center organization
  • Collaborate with R&D and Operations in implementing technology transfer from R&D to operations for new product launches 
  • Maintain and continuously improve technology at our internal plants and Corteva’s proprietary technologies at our external manufacturing partners
  • Extensive knowledge of process safety requirements 
  • Demonstrated leadership of process enhancement engineering
  • Ensure that process performance is met versus design
  • Provide expertise and consulting to operations on engineering, reliability, maintenance and process technology
  • Manage global turn arounds and ensure that global maintenance processes are met
  • Manage the planning and prioritization of Corteva’s ~$650MM/yr capital plan
  • Ensure that the CP capital plan is executed safely and efficiently
  • Maintain process control systems at all internal plants and implement program to modernize Corteva CP Manufacturing process automation systems globally
  • Develop and support implementation of the Operations Sustainability Strategy 
  • Develop and support implementation of Corteva's Climate Program with a focus on Greenhouse Gas emission reduction

Key Attributes:
The successful candidate needs to have strong technical skills with an “in depth” understanding of advanced process technologies/chemistries

  • Strong leadership skills to provide strategic leadership to a critical Corteva organization
  • The ability to “see the future” and not be anchored in the current methods and work practices.
  • Be adept at the human and organizational components of change and can energize a workgroup to adopt new methods of working.  
  • Have a good understanding of capital execution processes 
  • Maintains close working relationships with R&D, Supply Chain, EHS&S, Quality & Compliance and Operations to foster and encourage an environment of collaboration and professional development 
  • Contribute to Supply and Asset Strategies in support of overall business strategies across the Crop Protection Business Unit for new pipeline molecules and existing portfolios
     

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 15 years’ experience including manufacturing, technology and engineering.
  • Strategic leadership with the ability to shape and steward strategies across the highest levels of the organization 
  • Experience developing the people and technology strategies that maximize the organization’s capabilities and competitive advantages
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the organization through new and challenging initiatives

Preferences: 

  • Experience in a specialty chemicals business
  • Lean six sigma black belt
  • Second language fluency (Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc.)
