YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sustainability and Environmental Manager, are to: 

 

  • Be responsible for setting technical work direction for the Luling Site;
  • Ensure the Environmental team follows corporate, local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements including Site Sustainability goals;
  • Adhere to compliance with all environmental regulations, Global and Regional directives as they relate to Environmental compliance. (This compliance oversight also extends to multiple Service Contractors and 3rd Party Tenants);
  • Ensure and validate mid-year and end of the year sustainability reporting is completed appropriately;
  • Ensure regulatory reports, permit applications, etc. are submitted in an accurate and timely fashion;
  • Assist the Environmental Team in interpreting and implementing regulatory and internal requirements and ensuring that the plant understands those requirements;
  • Optimize Environmental direct reports' performance and development through mentoring, coaching, training, and recognition;
  • Foster an effective and collaborative work environment;
  • Monitor and stay attuned to upcoming company and regulatory environmental requirement changes and ensure plans are implemented to keep the Luling Site operations in compliance;
  • Lead the development and implementation of environmental programs (management systems) through influence;
  • Support the analysis and resolution of minor operation interruptions and upsets related to environmental issues;
  • Provide support and leadership for SSHE Key Performance Indicators (KPI s);
  • Interact with other key Bayer sites as well as regional and global Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) groups to share best practices, and influence the development of programs, policies, and procedures;
  • Develop and monitor the environmental cost center budget.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related degree;
  • Minimum seven years of Environmental experience in chemical or petrochemical industry;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all disciplines;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations;
  • Ability to interface effectively with regulatory agencies is vital for success in this role;
  • The ability to maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external customers and stakeholders is equally important;
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver training programs and reports to site employees and company officials.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Three years of people leadership preferred.
