YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Transportation Manager, are to: 

 

  • Collaborate cross functionally with Product Supply to develop strategies and contingency plans that enable achievement of monthly, quarterly, and yearly shipping and reverse logistics targets at defined service levels;
  • Leverage business acumen to proactively develop strategies and solutions that maximize revenue and customer experience while managing transportation costs;
  • Ensure adherence to budgets and targets;
  • Influence adjacent supply chain functions as needed;
  • Be responsible for safe and compliant transportation processes to customer, including returns, dock capacity, carrier selection that meet both customer and commercial needs;
  • Ensure critical transportation processes are standard, documented, and reviewed in compliance with internal guidelines;
  • Represent the Distribution function with cross functional project leadership;
  • Mentor other transportation professionals and coordinate training related to Transportation processes and systems, including third parties;
  • Proactively identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to support organizational strategy and goals;
  • Develop and maintain vendor SLAs (Service-level Agreements) for assigned area of responsibility;
  • Define and track key performance indicators and metrics relative to SLA;
  • Manage the vendor performance within the assigned area(s);
  • Proactively partner with procurement as required to increase/decrease carrier capacity, and assist with vendor recruitment.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

 

Key Competencies:

 

  • Customer focus, results orientation, collaboration, agility, conflict management, decision making, strong communication, strategic mindset, advanced business knowledge, manages complexity;
  • Knowledge of IT systems and tools, e.g. SAP (Statistical Analysis Plans), WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and SalesForce;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;
  • Knowledge of regulations and impact on supply chain operations (DOT hours of service, hazardous materials);
  • Ability to travel away from St. Louis 10% of time.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain Mgmt, Logistics, Engineering, Business or related field;
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in supply chain with heavy transportation experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of TMS (Transportation Mandagement Systems); JDA (Java Discord API) preferred.
