YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sequencing Technologies Intern, are to:

 

  • Evaluate and develop methodologies relating to targeted sequencing for gene editing and transgene characterization;
  • Drive experimental design with guidance from the targeted sequencing;
  • Share project responsibilities with team lead and senior team scientists;
  • Develop experiments for generation sequencing workflows with assistance from team members in the Trait Genomics platform;
  • Analyze outcomes in conjunction with computational scientists;
  • Provide assessment of approaches at the end of the internship.

Required qualifications:

 

  • Must be registered and currently enrolled in a graduate program: Master of Science or PhD, pursuing a degree in Biology, Cell & Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry or related field;
  • Demonstrate interest and coursework in subjects related to genetics, genomics or molecular biology;
  • Exemplify self-motivation to learn different molecular biology techniques and applications;
  • Work within a team-based environment of other scientists;
  • Maintain agility in the face of changing projects or demands;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
     

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Lab experience outside of coursework, techniques such as DNA or RNA extraction, PCR, hybridization, and/or sequencing library creation;
  • Experience with documentation of scientific results.
