Corteva Agriscience is seeking Senior Research Associates to join our multi-crop research project focused on improvement of somatic embryogenesis. The Senior Research Associate will serve as a part of a team focused on changes in gene expression during somatic embryo formation and how to enhance this process. The ideal candidate has some combination of strong plant tissue culture, transformation, cell biology, and/or bioinformatics experience. The Senior Research Associate will perform plant tissue culture and transformation experiments and contribute to a team that will design new experiments, conduct necessary lab work, and complete follow-up analysis such as expression profiling.

  • Conduct plant tissue culture, transformation, and cell biology experiments designed to study the process of somatic embryo formation.
  • Work in a team setting to conduct follow-up analysis and data interpretation.
  • Maintain careful lab records, including notebooks, micrographs, and all electronic files.
  • Produce written summaries and provide periodic audio-visual summaries to the research team.
  • Supervise contract labor and interns to complete center research activities according to protocols while ensuring a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in plant biology or related scientific field with 2-4 years related experience, or related Bachelor's degree with 6+ years related experience.
  • Knowledge of plant biology, molecular biology, plant development, and experimental design.
  • Team player – we are a multi-crop research center so successful candidate will work across team members spanning disciplines and projects.
  • Strong attention to detail in a deadline driven environment.  
  • Plant tissue culture and transformation expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at using standard software programs and learning internal data systems.
  • Flexibility to work extended days at critical times to accommodate experimental requirements.
  • Leadership in site safety culture and ensure adherence to safety standards.
