This is an exciting opportunity for a focused and collaborative candidate to join our highly motivated Research and Development Team.  In response to the growth of our global crop protection business, we have one vacancy for a Regulatory Toxicologist within our Regulatory Toxicology team, part of our Human Safety function. This position is based at our Global Headquarters located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

As a Regulatory Toxicologist at Corteva, you will be an integral part of a growing, multidisciplinary team that is responsible for development, registration, and re-registration of new and existing crop protection products.

As a member of our Corteva Regulatory Toxicology team, you will operate as a Regulatory Toxicology Subject Matter Expert (SME) to: 

  • Work collaboratively and across regulatory and mammalian toxicology teams to develop and lead scientific strategies to deliver global toxicology programs which requires understanding and application of mechanistic assessments, testing requirements, experimental design, and results interpretation.  
  • Responsible for the design and interpretation of toxicology studies for active substances and end-use products in support of global regulatory submissions while ensuring the highest standards of scientific practice and animal welfare are met.   
  • Provide expertise and support for incorporation of robust study summaries and expert positions into the toxicology portion of the registration dossier and author technical responses to regulatory agencies.
  •  Act as a regulatory toxicology liaison with registration colleagues and technical experts across a wide range of disciplines within the company and national or international regulatory authorities.
  • Participate and represent Corteva as a technical expert on industry associations and working groups
  • Author and publish scientific manuscripts in alignment with Corteva regulatory toxicology and science best practices and/or active substance mechanistic assessments 
  • Additional opportunities for scientific growth within this collaborative, team-based role, including involvement on cross-active ingredient projects, innovative/alternative & mechanistic toxicity testing approaches and communicating data to a wide variety of audiences.

 

 

Qualifications


Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • An advanced degree in toxicology or related area (Ph.D. preferred; candidates with M.Sc. and relevant experience will be considered)
  • Two or more years of proven experience as a toxicologist within multi-disciplinary project teams, preferably, but not limited to, crop protection, with a developed understanding of global regulatory toxicology guidance, guidelines, and submission processes.  
  • A technical background and practical experience in the areas of endocrine biology, systems biology, neurotoxicology, and/or developmental and reproductive toxicology is highly desirable for this position.  

The following skills are integral to the successful fulfillment of this position: 

  • A diverse scientific background coupled with curiosity and critical thinking skills to deliver innovative toxicology strategies for new and existing chemistries while understanding and applying the crop protection regulatory framework. 
  • Application of project leadership skills to collaborate and coordinate multiple projects and chemistries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effective inter-personal skills and demonstrated teamwork abilities are key to this global role, to create and maintain collaborative and inclusive relationships, positively influence decision-making processes, while keeping teams engaged and motivated to deliver and develop.
  • Clear, written and oral communication skills that allow dissemination of complex technical issues in a straightforward and concise manner, along with the ability to adapt this information to a variety of scientific and non-scientific audiences, internally and externally 
  • Keen interest in working in a dynamic, exciting industry and applying scientific information for protection of human health at highest standards.
