At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Molecular and Technology Team is currently seeking a senior protein biochemist, to be located in Durham, North Carolina.

 

Role Purpose:

Syngenta is looking for an experienced protein biochemist to function as a key member of Molecular and Technology Team to support event generation and pipeline efforts required to deliver business objectives. 

 

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Protein Biochemist, you will lead development and implementation of protein analysis capabilities for crops such as maize and soybean.

 

  • Develop technologies for efficient detection and quantification to support research and development
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate novel analysis technologies Collaborate both internally and externally to develop new capabilities Provide expertise in method development and sample analysis collaborating with scientists to support research projects Develop new processes/methods/protocols and bring new technologies to improve function capability and efficiency
  • Deliver scientific expertise and recommendations to enable successful experimental program implementation to quantify transgenic and gene edited proteins in genetically modified crops
  • Collaborate both internally and externally to develop new capabilities
  • Develop recognition among internal and external communities as a leading expert in the field of protein quantitation
  • Lead and provide scientific expertise required to design and deliver objectives Use best practices and knowledge of internal business issues to improve products, process, or service


Requirements:

 

    PhD in protein analytical chemistry with a minimum 3 years of experience; MS with 5 years of experience Three or more years’ experience in protein biochemistry or relevant research experience in developing and implementing high throughput quantitative analysis ELISA Demonstrated expertise in method development for the detection and quantitation of proteins Excellent track record of delivering research and innovation through journal publications or patent applications Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry, biochemistry, enzymology, protein engineering, immunochemistry, and molecular biology Demonstrated success in working effectively as a member of a dynamic technical team Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Preferred Requirements:

 

  • Familiarity with databases and protein analysis software is a plus
  • Hands on experience in high throughput HTP laboratory environment, particularly on HTP ELISA analysis Good knowledge of high throughput molecular analysis platforms, molecular techniques, plant development, genetics, breeding and biotechnology with an analytical mind set Experience in large scale protein production Experience in Biotech industry Experience of biomolecule analysis in crops is desirable, but not essential
