Scientist II Hybrid Wheat Design 

 

Researcher that designs key research projects to scientifically advance breeding methods innovations and/or solve critical challenges for hybrid wheat breeding, with the most advanced technologies, novel concepts, and cross-functional collaboration to implement solutions in a region or crop pipeline.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist II Hybrid Wheat, are to:

 

  • Lead the design, development, implementation and execution of technical projects required for trait integration, early breeding pipeline, nursery optimization and operations improvements aligned with the overarching strategy for hybrid wheat design;
  • Support implementation of Precision Breeding Technical innovations for wheat within region;
  • Lead multi-function project teams across North America to support innovation for Precision Breeding, with a key focus on driving design and performance through digital transformation and new technology development and deployment;
  • Supports the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • PhD with at least three years relevant experience, OR Master of Science with at least five years relevant experience, OR Bachelor of Science with at least seven years relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities;
  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
  • Experience with methods optimization and workflow development;
  • Familiarity with and a demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large datasets;

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • PhD or Master in Agricultural Science, Pathology, Genetics, Crop Science, or Product Management;
  • Experience with crop physiology and crop/environmental modeling;
  • Experience with automated phenotyping/remote sensing and the interpretation of imaging data;
  • Experience with wheat;
  • Valid driver's license.

 

Domestic relocation may be provided for this role.
