Scientist I 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist I are to:

 

  • Deliver daily/weekly targets;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team and provides training to contingent workforce; Maintains detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Have primary or shared responsibility for high throughput sterile lab;
  • Be accountable for cross-functional work in multiple process areas;
  • Adhere to established protocols and techniques; solves problems with others using multiple data sources;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and use best practices;
  • Execute typically routine, technically diverse and sophisticated assignments with a broad understanding of instrumentation and scientific principles to deliver daily and weekly targets;
  • Execute various lab analysis with proper recording of data independently;
  • Participate in moderate to extensive problem solving which includes team members in other analytical labs; optimize workflows; validate methods using multiple data sources;
  • Understand the scientific basis of the company’s products, understand at least one job related technical area, e.g., trait testing, trait development, regulatory science, trait introgression, plant breeding, quality management;
  • Use specialized scientific techniques to conduct experiments and implement process improvements;
  • Prepare, communicate and interpret results of complex experiments, production KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Be skilled in organizing and reporting based on specialized reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Prepare reports with large data sets for supervisor review, under time constraints and across various project types;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem solving skills; will have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group and show initiative in keeping abreast of literature in field of interest;
  • Train and may supervise others in specialized area;
  • Interacts with others within specialized areas.

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Master’s of Science with at least one year of relevant experience;
  • Bachelor’s of Science with at least four years relevant experience;
  • Non degreed with at least 12 years relevant experience;
  • Strong understanding of basic laboratory techniques and experimental design;
  • Specialized laboratory experience with the mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software;
  • Must possess agility and adaptability to keep up with a changing company;
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
