Research Chemist II 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research Chemist II, are to: 

 

  • Conduct and interpret complex chemistry experiments in support of Process Development, Environmental Operations, Process Support and Optimization, and other development projects;
  • Develop and implement research and/or technology-driven proposals;
  • Lead chemical/biological process development and new technologies within existing processes to drive business improvements in yield, quality, cost, IP, sustainability, and safety;
  • Independently design, operate, and interpret the results of lab/bench/pilot equipment/reactor studies;
  • Contribute and support research and development projects related to commercial Active Ingredient (AI) production;
  • Collaborate with Engineering and production teams to ensure the safe and effective operation of chemical production facilities;
  • Interact with respective other functions inside and outside of research and assure appropriate management of IP and documentation;
  • Drive high safety standards and continuous improvement within the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • PhD with at least two years of relevant experience, Master of Science with at least five years of relevant experience, or Bachelor of Science with at least seven years of relevant experience;
  • Chemistry (or related science) experience with a focus on process chemistry, reaction mechanisms, process safety, kinetics, process operations, and/or analytical chemistry;
  • Designs, conducts & interprets complex experiments;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, and provide contributions to collaborative projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence a team.
