Research Chemist I 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Research Chemist I, are to:

  • Design and perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing of Chemistry experiments in support of Process Development, Environmental Operations, Process Support and Optimization, and other development projects;
  • Coordinate routine and non-routine maintenance of lab/bench/pilot equipment/reactors and drive safe operation via Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in labs;
  • Drive lab operational excellence and implement best practices in a lab facility;
  • Support build of new equipment and reactors in a lab by driving safety reviews and communicating with site contractors;
  • Implement best practices for continuous improvement in a lab operation;
  • Collaborate and communicate with site Health Safety and Environment (HSE), security and waste management to run a lab operation within local regulations;
  • Contribute to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
  • Ensure high safety standards and continuous improvement within the area of responsibility;
  • Possess solid knowledge of the operation of lab/bench/pilot equipment/reactors with high complexity.

Required qualifications:


  • PhD with minimal experience, or Master of Science degree with at least two years of relevant experience, or Bachelor of Science degree with at least five years of relevant experience;
  • Chemistry knowledge with a focus on process chemistry, reaction mechanisms, process safety, kinetics, process operations, and/or analytical chemistry;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and drive collaborative projects forward by drawing conclusions and communicating recommendations to the project team and departmental leadership.
