We’re looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Associate to join the cross functional SPD Field and Phenotyping team in Johnston, IA. The Research Associate is an integral member of a multi-crop and cross functional research center committed to developing and testing new traits, hybrids and varieties for multiple crops.

Responsibilities - How will you help us grow? 
 
Help assist by owning, assisting, and planning multiple faucets of research by conducting experiments, recording, and analyzing data, and being a team member to support operations of laboratories and or field locations.
This position will assist in the management of working on trait and plant breeding activities, as well as data collection and trial execution efforts for a multi-crop research center.

• Assist in the technologies used to produce high quality data 
• Ability to work across multiple aspects of the organization: Trait Integration and Plant Breeding
• Maintain and improve the efficiency and safety of daily workplace operations
• Be expected to contribute to joint success of all research groups at the center

Qualifications

Requirements - What expertise have you grown? 

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or scientific related field preferred
• Demonstrated excellent communication/personal interaction skills to foster teamwork, enhance a positive work environment, and effectively develop strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people
• Strong experience and skills with computers and data management. 
• Strong aptitude to operate and maintain planting and harvest equipment including electronics, GPS systems and data collection systems.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, operational safety, supervision and time management.
• Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds
• Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work to travel and work extended hours during peak periods
• Ability to obtain commercial pesticide license
