As a member of the PW Operation Team, the Research Associate will be responsible for plan, organize, supervise, and execute all post-harvest operations for all crops at the Center including drying, shelling, packaging, quality & shipping documentation.
Supports technical research staff with seed processing operations, data collection, standard operating procedures, and equipment in accordance with research guidelines to ensure validity of experimental results.
The Research Associate must ensure compliance requirements in operations activities.
Responsibilities - What you will do:
Supervise personnel executing operation activities from drying to shipping
Organize team works according to resources available, crop, field type, weather conditions, instructions, and priorities in order to accomplish with the deadlines
Maintain updated a track system for all managed materials
Ensure that all activities are carried out according to the equipment and machinery procedures and/or SOP’s.
Ensure Corteva, EPA and USDA regulatory requirements are followed in all activities
Maintain a Continuous Improvement culture in the team to meet the needs of research costumer requirements
Monitors and evaluates progress and results, and determines improvements or changes needed to achieve goals.
Ensures business strategy and technology directions are aligned with the seed condition process.
Request material and supplies purchasing to maintain adequate levels of all necessary items.
Other Duties:
May require flexibility in work schedule, including weekends, second or third shift when needed.
May be requested to assist in other areas or groups at the Salinas Research Center.
May be required to assist or correct associated findings from safety audits.
Qualifications - What you will bring:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science or a related field and 5+ years of experience in research and development, preferable in seed conditions or seed processing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment.
Must have knowledge and excellent computer skills.
Ability to speak, read or write English is required.
Resourceful, organized, and responsible is required
May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
Soft Skills:
Self-motivation and ability to work with minimum of direct supervision.
Great time management skills including the ability to manage a substantial workload.
Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple concurrent activities and deliver on commitments under tight time constraints.
