Project Scheduler 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role Project Scheduler are to:

 

  • Primary duty is to develop and maintain engineering and construction project schedules with integrated resource loading and reporting on project progress using Microsoft Project;
  • Creates and maintains project schedules during all phases of capital projects ranging in values from $100K USD to over $5 Million USD, typically using in house master schedules with one or multiple external parties providing input;
  • Facilitates planning sessions with project managers, project team members and multiple project stakeholders ,production, quality departments, contractors to identify work packages;
  • Schedule updates though meetings, construction coordination interviews and field verification;
  • Manage ownership of all site engineering and construction planning and schedule attainment activities;
  • Controls internal and external estimators and construction experts to determine durations and resource requirements for individual tasks to create resource leveled execution plans, progress tracking baselines and shutdown requirements;
  • Works closely with external engineering contractors in order to ensure that schedules and progress updates are integrated into Bayer master schedules to create accurate actual status of productivity information and forecasts;
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of tools and methods in alignment within the global scheduling;
  • Develops subject matter training material to train schedulers, project controllers, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders;
  • Utilize chemical refinery construction estimation experiences to assure contractor schedule inputs align with the industry's best cost effective loading practices;
  • Provide regular construction progress updates, highlighting variances from the baseline;
  • Recommend corrective actions that mitigate potential delays or progress slippage;
  • Drive credibility with the information contained in the schedule through complete schedule ownership of all site construction activities;
  • Partner with project managers, construction coordinators and engineers to monitor and update integrated project plans;
  • Execute schedule projects in the most efficient manner possible, this includes the identification of critical paths, predecessor relationships and the correct resource loading;
  • Coordinate with Site Leadership to assure construction activities align with plant outages in order to minimize production losses;
  • Integrate key resources including major equipment by partnering with Area Planners to effectively utilize cost resources;
  • Develop sitewide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for scheduling as it pertains to engineering and construction activities;
  • Leverage technical acumen to utilize the KPIs to drive operational and scheduling excellence;
  • Support site cost controlling activities though the effective use of resource loading;
  • Manage project backlogs ensuring proper completion of resource utilization by leveraging proper documentation;
  • Execute knowledge and expertise of process equipment with all supporting work groups.

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Associate degree in engineering or other related fields with 10+ years of experience in managing projects and controlling;
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering or other relevant field with 8+ years of experience in managing project schedules and engineering;
  • Master's degree in engineering or other related fields with 6+ years of experience in managing project schedules and controlling;
  • Expert knowledge of scheduling and progress tracking, including rules of credit, earned value analysis and critical path method;
  • Excellent knowledge using MS Project and lean scheduling tools;
  • Field experience for capital projects;
  • Experience with integrating contractor schedules into master schedules;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices;
  • Extreme attention to detail;
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines;
  • Detailed understanding and ability to schedule capital projects of $100,000 to $5 million.

 

Preferred qualifications: 

 

  • PMI certification desirable.
