To support that challenge, the Seed Production Team is currently seeking a Production Technician in Belmond, IA. You will help shape the future of agriculture by: •    Producing a reliable supply of high-quality seed by executing production plant tasks assigned by Plant Management.   •    Organizing, performing and leading in assigned departments to ensure all required processes, procedures and production requirements are met.   •    Managing field operations, seed receiving, and conditioning equipment operations to ensure that all seed is properly handled and conditioned so the highest quality seed will be packaged to meet sale demands.

 

Accountabilities  •    Operate, monitor, and adjust seed conditioning equipment for top quality and low discard. Responsible for product quality assessments and adherence to product specifications. Ensure all clean-downs and changeovers are done correctly to eliminate any product mixture. •    Operate packaging and seed treating equipment. •    Operate lift trucks in packaging and warehouse operations. All seed picked and transported to specified area is identified accurately and checked against production order. •    Participate in site safety initiatives and goals. Foster an operational culture founded on adherence to all applicable HSE and other corporate policies, procedures and guidelines. Strict adherence to HSE protocols and all corporate policies and processes. •    Assist site maintenance manager in making repairs and improvements to plant equipment. •    Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and routinely inspected. •    Diligent continuous improvement processing efforts with accompanying employee motivations. •    Adherence to Lean principles and ways of working. •    Minimize downtime through proper Preventative Maintenance program. •    KPI driven on downtime and safety guarding initiatives. •    Responsible for adherences to established plant procedures. •    Fill all orders per production order instructions. •    Supervise third party personnel as needed. •    Actively support an image that reflects the highest regard for cleanliness and organization. •    Participate in KPI’s to meet the annual improvement objectives. •    Perform other duties as required to meet plant or site needs.

Requirements  •    High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience required. •    Agricultural or Warehousing background preferred but not required. •    Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.  •    Must have a valid driver’s license. •    Must be able to be forklift certified. •    Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.  Preferred Requirements  •    Ability to be CDL certified preferred. •    Ability to receive a chemical applicators license. •    Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills. •    Excellent organizational and communication skills. •    Working knowledge of inventory management principals. •    Ability to adapt to changing environmental/situational needs such as rain, snow storms and very cold temperatures that can affect the scheduling and operation of the plant
