At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Seeds Supply and Operations Team is currently seeking a Production Technician in Waterloo, NE.

 

You will help shape the future of agriculture by: 

    Producing a reliable supply of high-quality seed by executing production plant tasks assigned by Plant Management.  Organize, perform and lead in assigned departments to ensure all required processes, procedures and production requirements are met.  Position will take on several roles based upon field production practices, plant processing requirements and distribution needs.  Manage field operations, seed receiving, and conditioning equipment operations to ensure that all seed is properly handled and conditioned so the highest quality seed will be packaged to meet sale demands.

Accountabilities

    Be accountable to the team Be respectful to all Strict adherence to all HSE & Corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines Our year is cyclical, employees are asked to do a combination of roles throughout the year Assist site maintenance lead in making repairs and improvements to equipment and facilities Active participation in plant upgrade projects and risk analysis Minimize downtime through proper Preventative Maintenance programs and routine inspections Ability to use maintenance software from creation of work order to completion Ability to learn operation skills for a variety of equipment sizers, gravities, color sorter, forklifts, software, etc. Responsible for the adherence to product and quality specifications Ensure all clean-downs and changeovers are done correctly to eliminate any product mixture All seed movements are identified accurately and checked against production orders or deliveries Ensure a quality product is ready for delivery Picking and pooling of customer shipments Inventory management, by-product movements, scale operation Physical inventory and cycle counts Pooling and distribution of parent seed to grower base Planting of seed production fields and parent seed returns Accurate and timely field data collection from field isolations, maps, vegetative growth stages and pollination Coordination of labor for rouging and detasseling operations Ability to manage a large crew of people and long hours to perform ear corn receiving, husking operations, and dryer fill Ability to manage corn dryers by monitoring data to ensure timely samples are taken, requires shift work and management of a small crew. Ability to manage ear corn shelling operations by coordinating multiple harvest operations to ensure efficiency is maintained throughout the harvest process Ensure all clean-downs and changeovers are done correctly to eliminate any product mixture


Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED required Ability and willingness to work OT as needed required Must be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing Must be forklift certified, or have the ability and willingness to obtain certification. On-Site Training provided Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future. 

Preferred Requirements

    Experience working in Agriculture/Seed Industry preferred Ability and willingness to obtain a CDL certified preferred Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related plant science preferred
