Product Development Scientist II (Soybean Breeding) 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Product Development Scientist II (Soybean Breeding), are to:

 

  • Designs, develops, implements and executes technical strategy required for product development (from 1st year of yield trial testing to Commercialization) aligned with product concepts and portfolio needs to deliver genetic gain in the short and long term for late maturity soybean breeding pipelines;
  • Interacts with partners in Field Testing and Operations, Analytics and Pipeline Design, Product Design, Market Development and Regional Marketing, to assure implementation of technical strategy for developing new commercial products;
  • Supports global pipelines for product development in specified maturity zones;
  • Supports new product launches with our national and regional brands as well as Market Development;
  • Supports projects on implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in product development in target market;
  • Supports regional home team and partners within region to support innovation projects for Precision Breeding, with a key focus on driving; genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology development and deployment;
  • Supports the Health, Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. (defended by January 31, 2023) with 3 or more years of experience (including educational program) OR Master's degree with 5 or more years of experience;
  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Plant Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Pathology, Genetics, Crop Science, Product Management or related scientific field;
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross functional and multi cultural teams to achieve common goals;
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, driving toward solutions;
  • Results orientated with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
  • Ability to travel independently domestically up to 10%.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large datasets;
  • Experience with automated phenotyping/remote sensing technologies;
  • Experience interpreting imaging data to help drive business decisions.

 

Domestic relocation may be available for this role.

Visa Sponsorship may be available for this role.

Position may be based in an approved US Crop Science site in Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Arkansas or Tennessee.

Position may include opportunity to work remotely in hybrid environment up to 60% dependent on seasonal business needs.
