Lab Coordinator 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Lab Coordinator, are to: 

 

  • Coordinate daily quality testing lab activities including monitoring of sample queue, traceability of samples within the lab, communication of technical issues to appropriate stakeholders, posting of assay results and inventory management of critical lab supplies/reagents to ensure timely delivery of service level agreements;
  • Manage daily allocation of resources, coach team members on production system strategies, and aid lab leadership in conflict resolution;
  • Ability to create, monitor, and communicate KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and metrics both up and down the tier structure;
  • Actively Identify opportunities for improvement and effectively lead change initiatives;
  • Function as process expert for testing platform and train others to perform processes;
  • Create documents/protocols, review and summarize technical data for presentation to peers and management;
  • Ensure all work instructions and procedures are accurate, current and align and comply with external accreditation standards;
  • Contribute to continuous innovation through embracing diverse ideas and seeking out broad cross functional expertise;
  • Drive customer confidence in Quality Testing protocols by establishing and developing relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Implement continuous improvement projects and troubleshoot quality testing issues related to data management, automation and method documentation/implementation; promote continuous improvement culture;
  • Collaborate with IT teams to capture lab requirements and perform testing of new functionality with IT (Information Technology)/SAP (Statistical Analysis Plans)/LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) systems.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • At least 2 years of experience directing or supervising teams;
  • Weekend and overtime work as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Microbiology, Pathology, Chemistry or related field;
  • Ability to lead through influence; comfortable with ambiguity; ability to communicate and lead change within teams;
  • Knowledge of process improvement systems/methods;
  • Experience with some of the following computer programs: Microsoft Excel (Data Analysis, Macros, etc), Business Objects, Access (database design and use), LIMS (Labware or Labvantage preferred), SAP Detailed oriented with the ability to multitask in a high throughput Environment;
  • This position may require a change in shift hours.
