About Us
Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking a Greenhouse Seed Production Lead in Durham, North Carolina location.
Role purpose
- Leading greenhouse seed productions for GM/GE crop projects at various development stages
- Cooperating with various external partners, to manage all aspects of seed increases, QA/QC, regulatory compliance, and stewardship
- Coordinating with different functional units, projects, and field trait evaluation teams for seamless processes
- Developing speedy and cost-effective greenhouse seed production procedures and trouble shooting
- Having supervisory responsibilities and leading multi-disciplinary work streams
- Periodically updating projected quantity, quality, and timelines of seed deliveries to the key stakeholders
- Perform all activities in accordance with the Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy
Accountabilities
- Develop efficient, rapid, and robust processes for GM/GE seed productions under controlled growth environments, including KPIs, quality control and assurance, compliance, and stewardship
- Lead greenhouse space planning and resource allocations for seed productions, according to Seeds Research priorities, portfolio needs, and project demand
- Closely cooperate with partners such as Duke University, North Carolina State University NCSU and others.
- Work in a function and project matrix environment to plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of high through-put and superior-quality seed increases, from planting, genetic analyses, phenotyping, pollinating, harvest to seed registration and shipment, in accordance with project timelines
- Hire, manage and mentor full-time and/or contract employees within the team
- Protect novel findings through submission of invention disclosure
- Able to work during weekends and holidays as needed

Requirements
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
Critical knowledge and experience
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in crop production and agronomy, particularly with seed productions of maize and soybean under well-controlled growth environments
- Prior experience working in GM/GE biomaterials, trait characterization, inventory management, QA/ QC, regulatory compliance, and stewardship
- Proven capabilities of successful cooperation with internal and external partners
Additional information
Eligible to work in the US Occasional domestic and international travels to field sites, project meetings, and scientific conferences
