Syngenta is a global leader in agriculture; rooted in science and dedicated to bringing plant potential to life. Each of our 28,000 employees in more than 90 countries work together to solve one of humanity’s most pressing challenges: growing more food with fewer resources. A diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace environment are enablers of our ambition to be the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture. Our employees reflect the diversity of our customers, the markets where we operate and the communities which we serve. Join us and help shape the future of agriculture.
At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Functional Genomics Team is currently seeking a Genomics Scientist, to be located in Durham, NC
We are seeking a genomics scientist developing and supporting innovative and advanced bioinformatics and genomic solutions by managing and analyzing large volumes of genetic and genomic data to enable trait research and discovery. Our research aims to discover and deliver novel GM traits and gene editing targets to improve crop quality and performance by utilizing advanced functional genomics capabilities and cutting edge informatics platforms. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative, and result oriented team environment.
Be an active member of a scientific group focusing on research and prototype development of analytics that evolve standard functional genomics towards a systems genomics approach for predictive and prescriptive trait lead discovery Participate in project teams partnering with trait scientists, crop genetic scientists, and computational biologists to develop customized and novel genomic and bioinformatics solutions to advance trait lead discovery, gene editing target identification, transgene expression and modulation Manage and analyze large scale Omics and disparate NGS data sets in both structured and unstructured formats, develop innovative approaches, processes and pipelines for genomic data analysis Interpret analysis results and communicate results at the appropriate level i.e. in technical terms to peers and as business recommendations to decision makers Involve in structural and functional genomics platforms development and drive evolution of platforms
