Corteva Agriscience is seeking a highly motivated Genome Editing & Molecular Engineering Scientist to join our Molecular Genome Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have exposure to a broad range of scientific disciplines in the field of genome editing including, protein evolution, molecular biology, plant transformation, plant breeding, biochemistry, and informatics with specialized skills in molecular biology and genome editing and at least one other discipline. The successful candidate will also perform and troubleshoot laboratory experiments and manage scientific/technical aspects of projects while contributing to broader cross-functional research activities.

Responsibilities - How will you help us grow? 

  • Design and validation of assays to optimize genome editing tools using a variety of techniques which may include molecular biology, biochemistry, rational design, protein evolution, and bioinformatics 
  • Manage a team of one or more research associates
  • Work with manager to set goals, track progress, and quickly pivot research activities when needed
  • Analyze, summarize, and present results to leadership and others
  • Participate in cross-functional and external collaborations
  • Author protocols, reports, manuscripts, and patent applications
  • Stay abreast of advances in relevant fields using a variety of sources including academia, competitive intelligence, and the literature

Qualifications


Requirements - What expertise have you grown? 

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences, or related fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience desired or Master’s degree with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience
  • Broad knowledge in the field of genome editing and molecular biology
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a dynamic, past-paced R&D environment
  • Experience with rationale design and directed evolution approaches is highly desirable
  • Experience with biochemistry would be a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize methods and identify and address bottlenecks
  • Ability to translate and apply new technologies or approaches to a lab setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency at experimental design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting
  • A proven track record of creative scientific accomplishment as evidenced by a strong publication and/or patent record
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the utilization of various gene/protein databases, sequence analysis tools, and computer skills
