Description


This role will be a senior position within the EMEA Regulatory and Stewardship team.  The role will monitor and interpret key developments and trends in chemical regulations, propose mitigations and responses and support the development and delivery of communication and advocacy strategies, both internally and externally to Corteva. The role will have a strong focus on the interface between chemical regulations and plant protection products regulation, and will also work across both our Seeds and Crop Protection platforms. 

The role will report to the EMEA RAS Leader and join the EMEA RAS Leadership team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Monitor developments in, and propose the Corteva response to, the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS) 
  • Predict and anticipate future chemical legislation regulations, policies and trends which might impact Corteva in the mid- to long-term. 
  • Propose the resulting strategic choices for Corteva (innovation investment choices) 
  • Lead associated communication and advocacy strategies for Corteva and escalate to leadership for alignment and approval 
  • Represent and defend Corteva interests in industry expert groups i.e., CropLife Europe for chemical legislation and related subject matters. 
  • Focus on the strategic interaction between current and future chemical regulations and crop protection and seed products in EMEA. 

Key duties include: 

  • Develop and/or maintain external network in the Chemical Legislation arena with industry associations, authorities, regulators, etc. 
  • Develop and implement the advocacy/policy strategy for relevant chemical legislation topics that impact our industry:  
  • Liaise with internal partners and stakeholders for information sharing and alignment on related policy subjects 
  • Provide timely updates to Corteva leadership on progress on the regulatory issue and advocacy plan.  
  • Advise on necessary steps of ensure full regulatory compliance with current and emerging chemical legislation requirements. 
  • Represent and defend Corteva interests in industry groups on chemical legislation and related subject matters. 
  • Predict and anticipate future chemical legislation development and troubleshoot with chemical legislation leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Provide strategic guidance to the cross-functional stakeholders and the business. 

Location: this role is open to  any other European locations.

Qualifications


To Grow What Matters, You Will Need 

  • Minimum: University degree in chemistry, biology or related scientific field. A Law degree would also be acceptable with relevant technical experience.
  • 7-10 years prior experience working in a regulatory environment, focused on chemical regulations.
  • Strong background with EU REACH is desirable.
  • Excellent project management and organization skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking: Ability to think ahead, anticipate and resolve issues; appropriate understanding of the business and related processes, to relate regulatory positions and developments to commercial.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with complex regulatory issues and to develop effective strategies for implementing and managing them.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills: Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues within and outside the regulatory and stewardship network.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and partners: Able to drive change by influencing key stakeholders (internally and externally) through sound business cases. 
  • Familiarity with database environments and SAP.
