Role Description

 

Do you want to design and integrate robots? In this fast-paced R&D environment you’ll work on a cross functional team. You’ll design, build, integrate, test, certify, and deploy printed circuit boards and electronics cabinets integrated with state-of-the-art sensors that enable never before seen in-field processes and observations. You will deploy these solutions globally. You’ll need lots of creativity and passion, and you’ll be given a wide degree of latitude. Electrical Engineer III 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Electrical Eng III, are to:

 

  • Lead assigned phases (based on role) and supports all phases of automation projects including concept development, basic engineering, prototyping, detailed engineering and design, procurement, construction, start-up, testing, deployment, and sustainment of automated systems;
  • Follow Bayer and industry best practices;
  • Plan, delegate, and carry out engineering tasks to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met;
  • Select system architecture and technical strategy for the project & ensure application for the project
  • Partner with other engineering disciplines, customers and vendors/suppliers to ensure the successful development and execution of projects;
  • Lead and review (as appropriate) the preparation of specifications, drawings, bills of materials, test procedures, and other project documentation;
  • Lead and review (as appropriate) check-out, commissioning, testing, start up, and field support
  • Modify existing and create new procedures, standards and practices to stay current with technology and implement improved methods;
  • Identify risks and design for safety. Lead or review (as appropriate) safety reviews and document safety strategies including interlocks, alarms, procedures, safety systems, etc;
  • Support controlling cost and schedule on assigned projects, including project budget/schedule estimation and proposal;
  • Interact with vendors in all engineering design phases and leads in assigned phases from conceptual design through design review, and system integration;
  • Mentor engineering staff within project in technical development both through formal relationships and informal interactions;
  • Create intellectual property and adheres to company procedures for intellectual property protection;
  • Develop alternative solutions to problems, handles complex problems independently;
  • Demonstrate strong technical expertise and ability to adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Display flexibility with assignments;
  • Drive application of new technology;
  • Conduct proper application of standards and guidelines especially related to automation documentation, configuration conventions, and testing;
  • Identify of customer’s requirements and negotiation of the best cost/benefit solution;
  • Enforce standards and policies/procedures and submitting deviations when required, Special studies to evaluate new equipment or engineering tools for the project or automation department;
  • Be responsible for ensuring all Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) requirements are met.

Required Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four of more years relevant work experience, Masters Degree with two or more years work experience, PhD & one or more years of experience;
  • Degree in engineering or science such as Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Agricultural, Computer, Computer Science, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial, Information Systems, or related field with strong interest in automation;
  • Significant experience in one or more of: automation design, machine design, test engineering, agricultural engineering, automation support, project engineering, electrical panel design, printed circuit board design or equivalent experience;
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in machine electrical design engineering, electrical panel design, circuit design;
  • Expert knowledge of safety systems, design documentation standards, automation validation, quality assurance, and automated system integration;
  • Expert knowledge of relevant software and hardware tools including Schematic Capture, AutoCad Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical;
  • Experience with board layout and printed circuit board fabrication;
  • Experience with edge hardware for Internet of Things;
  • Excellent knowledge of and demonstrated application of relevant national and international standards in area of expertise;
  • Working knowledge of safety systems, design documentation standards, automation validation, quality assurance, and automated system integration;
  • Strong relevant computer hardware and software skills;
  • Strong knowledge of relevant national and international standards in area of expertise;
  • Knowledge of project control skills including project planning, scheduling, cost control, and requirements development;
  • Some experience in providing field support and/or participating in check out, commissioning, and start-up of automated systems;
  • Systematic approach to problem definition and solution development;
  •  Ability to work as a member of cross-functional teams and to participate in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills to deal with people at different levels of management, engineering, suppliers, and internal customers;
  • Good verbal and written skills to communicate with and obtain cooperation from team members;
  • Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive technical documents required for project execution;
  • Business-proficiency of oral and written English language;
  • Willingness and availability to travel depending on project or business needs;
  • Working understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and responsibilities.
