YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Scientist, are to:

This position is a two year temporary assignment as a Bayer employee.

 

  • Be an active member of a highly interdisciplinary and cross-organizational team;
  • Stay current with the fast-paced innovation in machine learning applied to the analysis of biomolecules, with a focus on modelling the “language of life”.
  • Ability to conceive, execute and evaluate models and experiments, interpret the results and present them in various cross functional meetings;
  • Develop a high-quality toolkit for data processing and machine learning of biomolecular data;
  • Work in collaboration with peers located in the Pharmaceutical Divisions;
  • Demonstrates a moderate level of autonomy in building relationships and networks within current function, may require guidance to expand networks cross-functionally, interacts most often with Data Scientists within organization and peer business partners;
  • Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing, open source code, and engaging with the scientific community.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)  or Master of Science (M.Sc) with four years of working experience) in Computer Sciences, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, Physics or related fields;
  • Proficiency in writing code and experience in cloud computing;
  • Highly creative, independent, fast-learning person with outstanding problem-solving ability and the willingness to undertake challenging analysis tasks autonomously and in a timely fashion;
  • Excellent programming and software engineering skills in Python are essential;

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Profound experience with state-of-the-art advanced mathematical models, machine learning methods and model selection concepts; previous experience with deep learning would be of advantage;
  • A sincere interest for biology and the life sciences (knowledge of chemistry or biology would be an advantage)

 

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $120000 (or between $100000 to $135000).  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
