Corteva Agriscience™ has an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist. The successful candidate will join a strong, globally distributed Data Science team that develops and applies innovative methods and tools to deliver insights for R&D. The candidate will partner with leading industrial scientists to support our growing data science efforts in Crop Protection discovery and Development. The position will be remote with occasional travel to Indianapolis, IN and Johnston, IA. 


Responsibilities:

  • Provide data science expertise and collaborate with scientists for data collection, machine learning/statistical modeling, and interpretation of complex datasets to enable data-driven decisions
  • Develop and deploy end-to-end data analysis pipelines and applications for users with diverse backgrounds in chemical and biological disciplines
  • Communicate results in internal and external forums and contribute to scientific articles

Qualifications


Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Practical experience with and theoretical understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms (e.g. decision trees, neural networks, SVM, clustering)
  • Experience with feature selection, model diagnostics, remedial measures, and validation
  • Strong expertise in data wrangling and the Python programming language 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully collaborate and lead projects with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with statistical design and analysis of experiments (e.g., randomized complete/incomplete block designs, linear models)
  • Familiarity with Deep Learning
  • Experience consulting on scientific projects or working within a scientific team
  • Experience or education in chemistry/biochemistry

Educational Qualifications 

  • M.S (with 3+ years of relevant experience) or Ph.D. degree Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Statistics, or related highly quantitative fields.
