The Syngenta Analytics and Data Sciences team is seeking a creative, adaptable, detail-oriented Data Mining Analyst for the Seeds Research and Development team. Successful candidates will possess exceptional critical thinking skills, technical and business acumen, and strong problem-solving skills. The candidate will demonstrate accountability, continuous development, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills that includes statistics, machine learning, data analytics, and storytelling. As a Data Mining Analyst, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team that supports Research and Development objectives to transform our business.

 

You will help transform digital agriculture by:

    Playing a major role in delivering business insights, utilizing data mining, machine learning methods, computer vision, natural language processing, and data visualization techniques.

Accountabilities

    Identify viable data science opportunities and testing, developing, validating, and implementing end-to-end analytical solutions Utilize rigorous data science approaches to help transform our Seeds product development pipeline to deliver maximum value to our growers and sustainability to agriculture Discover and deliver insights leading to new intelligence and identify opportunities via the use of statistical, algorithmic, and visualization techniques Clean, munge, and explore diverse environmental, geospatial and product performance datasets Validate findings using a trial and iterative approach and effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences


Requirements

    PhD or Master’s degree with equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field 2+ years’ of experience: Data mining and analytics, Machine Learning, programming, data modelling, and evaluation, probability, and answering questions in high-dimensional datasets 2+ years’ of practical experience applying spatial analyses and Machine Learning to solve real-world problems involving environmental, geospatial, remote sensing, and product performance datasets Expertise in data wrangling, mining, and modelling Spatial data manipulation, expertise in GIS and remote sensing data collection

Preferred Requirements

    Experience with SQL and AWS Experience using a programming language Python, C/C++, Matlab for Machine Learning or a statistical computer language R, Python, SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets Experience in Machine Learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, MXNet, PyTorch or Scikit-Learn Experience with Kubernetes and Docker and the Agile Methodology Experience with visualization and rapid prototyping tools e.g. R Shiny, Spotfire, Power BI
