Accountabilities:

Develop complex data platforms, business solutions, and proofs of concept to enable insights and decision making using a stream first strategy leveraging AWS technologies including S3, S3 Parquet, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Apache Airflow, EventBridge, RDS, DynamoDB, and Lambda. Use DataOps methodology, collaborate with scientists, analysts, project teams, and other colleagues to translate data-driven insights into actions and decisions. Design and construct event-driven, transformative data pipelines that combine large and complex data types including genomic, phenotypic, environmental, and commercial to support predictive and prescriptive analytics. Transformations will use parallelized statistical tools and capabilities including R, Spark, ML algorithms, and other tools. Model and design storage repositories using fit for purpose technologies including relational, NoSQL, columnar, key/value pair, and time series data types. Expose data via a data virtualization layer and APIs. Design CI/CD code pipelines using programming languages that include SQL, Python, R, and Spark. Improve system quality by identifying issues and common patterns and developing standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems and Engineering Management, Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field and must have 2 years of related data engineering experience. The 2 years of experience must include 12 months of experience with an agriculture-related data domain.

Must also have 24 months of experience which may have been gained concurrently with each of the following: 1 Data transfer, aggregation, and transformation methods and tools including ETL and ELT; 2 Application and transformation capabilities using programming languages including SQL, Python, and R; 3 Designing and building databases for data storage and processing of relational, NoSQL, and columnar data types utilizing AWS targets namely, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, and S3 Parquet; 4 Using AWS services and technology including S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Apache Airflow, RDS, DynamoDB, and Lambda. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program. Must pass a background check and drug test before beginning employment.
