Breeding Quality and Process Engineer 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Breeding Quality & Process Engineer are to:

 

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Global Breeding Organization on the implementation of our Quality Management Program, System, and tools, with a focus on ensuring compliance and delivering sustainable operations to achieve the highest-level business performance;
  • Lead breeding operations teams in the assessments and optimization of productivity through the design, implementation, and testing of existing and new procedures;
  • Develop project review materials to communicate progress, roadblocks, and opportunities against the project plan; drive alignment on remediations; communicate to key stakeholders to drive one source of truth for status;
  • Drive teams to utilize process data to inform on opportunity areas for efficiency, design & support process improvement capabilities to drive operational excellence in site operations;
  • Develop project plans, deliver ROI and strategic recommendations;
  • Lead optimization projects and collaborates with local operations teams and IT or automation platform design teams to identify, develop, implement, and test equipment and software improvements;
  • Be responsible for partnering with business function leaders to assess product and process quality-related issues and trends and ensure corrective actions are implemented;
  • Evolve our Stewardship risk management strategy through the development of training suites, risk management tools, and education programs, for breeding leaders and employees, designed to ensure the program remains current and sustainable with our evolving business and instructs on the desired outcomes of the stewardship program;
  • Provide requirements and testing for the development of IT tools for our Quality Systems globally;
  • Track metrics to discover areas for evaluating performance and initiate improvement opportunities;
  • Facilitate management review meetings with Breeding function leadership teams and promote the identification and monitoring of quality metrics (KPIs) and identification of product and process improvement opportunities;
  • Conduct internal quality audits, trains auditors, and facilitates audit preparations for Breeding sites globally to ensure successful audits and external certifications;
  • Be responsible to engage Global Breeding Stewardship Team counterparts, and participating in reviews for Management of Change requests.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on agriculture or life sciences;
  • Experience in the application of IT solutions to support business operations;
  • Experience in working across multi-functional, global teams to deliver results;
  • Demonstrated leading through influence across organizations;
  • Demonstrated successful collaborations across teams;
  • Ability to coach and mentor other team members to become adopters of culture, processes, and tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • At least five years of experience in agriculture or business operations with risk management, quality, and or compliance experience;
  • At least three years of experience with ISO9001 and or Quality Management Systems;
  • Prior experience with LEAN philosophies and/or Six Sigma methodologies;
  • Experience in Compliance or Trait Quality related role in agriculture;
  • Proficient in Bayer’s enterprise data management and analysis software;
  • Experience leading IT strategies and building solutions to meet changing business needs.
