Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity in the Predictive Safety Center (PSC) within Crop Protection Regulatory Science for an Analytical Chemist.  The candidate will develop and execute analytical methods (LC/MS, GC/MS or other chromatographic techniques) to support the development and registration of new active ingredients and agricultural products.  In addition, the candidate will act as a subject matter expert (SME) on high throughput UPLC/MS-MS data acquisition and data review to assure high quality. This position is based in Indianapolis, IN. 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner effectively with other disciplines in PSC on project teams by providing analytical chemistry solutions, including design of experiments, execution, and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate across functions to develop and leverage analytical approaches and instrumentations.
  • Independently design and perform trace level biomarker analysis using modern analytical tools such as LC/MS, GC/MS or others.
  • Be responsible for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting through collaboration with the support team.
  • Plan and execute high throughput UPLC/MS-MS analysis to support biological assays of hit actives and lead molecules.
  • Follow disruptive technologies and bring outside in to develop new workflows and methodologies. 
  • Write protocols, methods, and technical reports; provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance. 
  • Communicate results effectively to project teams.

Qualifications


Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, or related areas is required. 
  • Experience with chromatography, LC/MS, or GC/MS techniques of small molecules present in complex biological matrices.
  • Experience with sample preparation, derivatization, and cleanup is required.
  • Industry experience in quantitative analytical chemistry; 5 years minimum for BS candidate, 1-3 years minimum for MS candidate, or 0-1 year for PhD candidate.
  • Instrumentation expertise and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills. Ability to plan and execute projects with high productivity. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility and capabilities of prioritizing projects. 
  • Demonstrated technical reporting, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with design of experiments, and knowledge in statistical analysis and reporting are desired.
  • Experience in other analytical techniques is desired but not required. 
  • Good background in organic chemistry is desired but not required.
